2020-08-03 · The CALPHAD-type computational thermodynamic databases have been developed since 1970. Several commercial computational thermodynamic software equipped with comprehensive and accurate thermodynamic databases and fast Gibbs energy minimization routine are widely used in the design of new materials and the optimization of materials processing.

Additional information can be found in COST 507 Report. COST507.tdb Links to websites with open databases. The links below contains several tdb files for assessed systems: CALPHAD databases represent phase-based property data, such as the Gibbs energy, as functions of composition, temperature and pressure and have been essential tools in developing new materials and processes. Multicomponent databases are constructed by combining unary, binary, and ternary descriptions to extrapolate to multicomponent systems (n >3). CALPHAD methodology consists of four main steps for developing databases of materials systems: i) collecting the available experimental data on the to-be-modeled properties, for example, in the case of thermodynamics these would be the data on phase equilibria, crystal structure, and thermochemical data, ii) critical assessment of the captured data and choosing the appropriate model based on this data, iii) optimizing the free parameters of the models and iv) appending the optimized model OpenCalphad (OC) is an informal international collaboration of scientists and researchers interested in the development of high quality software and databases for thermodynamic calculations using the CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) method. The OC project was initiated by Suzana G. Fries as part of the Sapiens project at ICAMS (International Center for Advanced Materials Simulations) at Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany.

Developing the third generation of Calphad databases: what can ab-initio contribute? The development of a reliable multicomponent thermodynamic database for high entropy alloys (HEAs) is a daunting task and it faces new challenges  Calculations are based on thermodynamic databases produced by expert evaluation of experimental data using the CALPHAD method.

download the mobility database manual Emerged in the late 1950s, the primary goal of the CALPHAD (an acronym for CALculation of PHAse Diagram) approach is to calculate phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of complex multi-component, multi-phase systems. Calphad databases have been dev eloped by this methodo logy since 1970s, known as first and second generationsofdatabases. The models used in these database s are phenomenological. Abstract In order to approximate Gibbs energy functions, a semi-automated framework is introduced for binary and ternary material systems, using Calphad databases. To generate Gibbs energy formulations by means of second-order polynomials, the framework includes a precise approach.
